About Home Safe Mold Inspectors of NWA LLC
We are the Reeves family: Dad- Blake, Mom- Lindsay, 3 precious kiddos, and 3 adorable fur babies. Blake and I were born and raised in Arkansas. We met after college, got married, had kids, and... we all lived happily ever after. Except we didn’t! In 2014 our lives took a devastating turn.
In October 2014 we moved to Alpharetta, GA for Blake’s work. We found a beautiful 3-story, 3,500-square-foot home to rent. It was perfect! It had a big backyard, a huge finished walkout basement, and a large cul-de-sac for our kids to ride their bikes.
Unfortunately, once we moved in, it quickly turned into a nightmare. Our youngest daughter was 5 months old. As soon as we moved into the house, she started screaming. She screamed, hit, spit, kicked, and bit for the next 2 ½ years. Her pediatrician saw no cause for alarm, assuming it was sensory issues because she was a preemie. So, we continued on with our new lives in Georgia but now with lots of therapies, soothing music, and all the calming gadgets money could buy. We did our best to keep her happy, but most of the time she was a challenge to say the least.
Within a few months, our other daughter began having rashes and started having chronic bronchitis. She would react to everything, even plain water in a bath. After a while, her vision deteriorated. She had to get extremely strong glasses and had to start wearing a patch for accommodative esotropia. Her tonsils swelled. She started snoring. She lost her balance. Her body became depleted of nutrients. Her rashes got worse, and her body started reacting to every minor injury as if she were dying.
The next year, we adopted our son who was 17 at the time. When he moved in, he also got sick. His nose started bleeding and he had constant allergy-type symptoms. I was sick as well. In fact, at this point, I could barely function. The last one standing was my husband who traveled constantly for his work.
We took our kids and myself all over Atlanta to doctor after doctor. We changed our diets. We removed all food coloring. We removed anything with fragrance. We did therapies and used every essential oil we could find. The doctors kept giving us more medications; creams, steroids, inhalers….. But in my heart, I knew something was very wrong and this one thing was causing all our issues. I just couldn’t figure out what it was and neither could the dozens of doctors we saw. Eventually, in 2017 my husband’s health was hit as well, when his liver numbers spiked unexpectedly. He began searching more intensely than ever for what could be causing all of our health issues.
After 2 ½ years in that home, he finally figured it out: TOXIC MOLD. The house was infested with toxic mold hidden under the floors and behind the walls. We were lucky enough to find a mold inspector who was honest and trustworthy. He told us to leave that house and never let our kids return. So we did. We would have done anything at that point to get our family healthy again. We left that home, trashed almost everything we owned, and with a lot of effort, our family was able to regain most of our health. Unfortunately, some of our health may never be recovered.
We left that house in June of 2017.. Since that time, we moved back to Northwest Arkansas and have had countless people contact us for help with their own mold exposure. Each and every time we have been honored to be there in any way that we could to help those families during such a difficult time.
